Red Velvet Cupcake Cookie, Carmel Shortbread Cookie, Galaxy Brownie Cookie, Pumpkin Square, Strawberry Milk Cookie. I tried all of them and while they looked pretty good I personally thought they were way too sweet for my liking and on top of the sweetness they had way too much icing. The presentation of the cookies makes them look delicious as always, but the flavor was kind of overpowered by the sugar and frosting.
The first one I tried was the Red Velvet Cupcake cookie. It had a lot of icing and the cookie itself was soft, which I liked, but for the most part the cookie itself was too sweet after a few bites. The icing tasted more like pure sugar than cream cheese frosting and it made it hard to finish. I think if they had used less icing or balanced it out with more Red Velvet flavour it would have been better or even use a red velvet frosting and make the cookie less sweet.
Next was the Caramel Shortbread Cookie. This one had chocolate and caramel on top, which made it look good but again the sweetness was too much. The caramel part was sticky and made the cookie kind of messy to eat. It had a good crunch but i think that was because the cookie was in the fridge, but it was hard to enjoy because it was so sugary.
The Galaxy Brownie Cookie looked the best out of all of them. It had frosting with sprinkles that made it stand out and it looked like something that you would see at Crumble. But once again it was too rich and heavy. It tasted more like eating a spoon full of frosting than a cookie. I think if Crumble made their brownie cookie more chocolatey instead of sweet it would be better.
Then there was the Pumpkin Square. This one was okay for fall, but the icing on top made it taste more like a desert bar than a cookie. There was more cinnamon taste than there was pumpkin. Overall it was decent, but the frosting took over. I think it would have been a really good cookie if it was just a light graze of icing.
Last was the Strawberry Milk Cookie. This one looked really good because it had little pink bits in it, but it honestly tasted like strawberry frosting on sugar cookie dough. It wasn’t bad at first bite, but when you kept on tasting it, it just got sweeter and sweeter . The cookie was soft but there was just too much icing again.
Overall, I think Crumble Cookies look good and they always come up with creative flavours, but they go overboard with the icing and sugar. I personally think they should tone it down a bit, and focus more on flavour and not just dump sugar into the cookies and call it good.
Overall I rate this week’s Crumble 6 or 7 out of 10
