The Cashmere girls’ soccer team has made its way to the district championship. The Bulldogs defeated the College Place Hawks by a score of 6-1 and then defeated the Cascade Kodiaks in the semifinals 7-3. But the district championship may bring a way bigger test.
The Bulldogs will take on the Naches Valley Rangers. The Rangers have won 13 straight games, and 12 of those have been shutouts. The first time these two squads met in the 2025 season, the Bulldogs got the best of them by a score of 2-1. But later in the season, the Rangers dominated the Bulldogs 5-0 in Cashmere.
The Rangers are led by Sophomore Emmaria Mendoza. Mendoza had three goals against Royal in the district semifinal. She will look to lead the Rangers to a district title.
As for the Bulldogs, they clinched their third straight state tournament. Brynne Patrick is the key contributor for Cashmere. The Bulldogs defeated Cascade behind a hat-trick from Junior Brynne Patrick.
Patrick was asked what some key factors are to come away with a victory on Saturday afternoon. She shared. “For Saturday, I think we all just need to stay focused because I think the problem with the last game was that we started getting like frantic after they scored, and I think we just need to stay composed. In short, we just need to keep our heads in the game.”
For both teams, this is more than a game. This is a chance to get a better seed for the state tournament and heist the district championship trophy. Kickoff is set for 5 pm at Dave Nielson Memorial Stadium at Royal High School.
