In the spring of last school year, several members of the Cashmere High School FBLA club went off to Bellevue to compete in their state conference.
FBLA, or Future Business Leaders of America is a great club to be involved in no matter what you plan to do in life. They have a huge variety of topics and projects for pretty much anyone. FBLA helps students build business and leadership skills. It offers competition and networking opportunities. The club itself promotes growth, responsibility, and teamwork.
When asked why he joined the club, Dylan Cornea said that he was introduced to the club by his friend Jackson Meloy and has been in the club goin on 3 years now. When asked about the experience in the club he said, “It was a super fun time. I had a lot of fun with Jackson, so I’m hoping to do it again.”
Dylan described the experience of going to state as “exciting” and “freeing.” He said that a lot of the time spent there was mostly with friends, walking around, getting food, or whatever fun activities they wanted to do at the moment. During the topic of state he also stated, “It’s a lot of free time to be honest with you. Like the amount of time that you’re actually doing stuff is pretty minimal.”
His answer was similar for the process of getting to the conference itself. When asked what the commitment level was like he said “It’s pretty lowkey. If I had to give an estimate on how much time I spent on the project, I’d say about a week.” That just shows that even if you’ve got some heavier workload on classes, FBLA still might be the place for you.
Finally when asked if he would recommend the club to anyone else he said directly “Yes, I would. Join FBLA today.”
