After the tough decision to cancel the Friday night football game due to smoke from surrounding fires, students at Cashmere High School were still determined to make the most of their night, attending the neon dance on Friday, September 5th, from 8-10.
Senior Eliana Thomas said, “ I think that the dance will be fun. It’s going to be fun with the people that show up and bring the energy.”
The music was loud as students filled the cafeteria, dressed in their bright colors and glowing clothes.
Everyone was dancing and having fun in their bright and neon colors. The music was loud, and the cafeteria was full of kids dancing. Reylin Boyd shared her favorite part of the night, saying, “I like how everyone was just there to have fun. Everyone was dancing and having a good time, and I didn’t care what anyone was thinking, which made it fun.” There were an estimated 50 kids attending this dance, which brought the energy and made the dance fun. School events like these give students a chance to connect outside of class and sports, a way to make new friends, and step outside their comfort zone. It’s also a fun, free way to spend your night where everyone can have fun without feeling judged.
The dance showed a strong school community with students coming together even when things didn’t end up going the right way.
