As the fires blaze through the valley, many places need to be evacuated. The Red Cross is helping families who have been told to evacuate due to their homes being under threat. The evacuated areas include Valley High, Engles Creek, Blue Shastin, and Camus Road. There are two evacuation locations, one in Entiat and one in Cashmere’s Christ Center Church.
Red Cross’s Robin Keels explains to us how “Red Cross comes on and provides shelter and food.”
“We can probably put 60 cots in here,” says a Red Cross associate. Only 6 people have used the shelter so far but there is plenty of space available for more evacuees if needed. The 3 people who are currently staying at the shelter are seeing if their homes are accessible and safe from the fire.
