The winter sports season is around the corner, and the Cashmere girls’ basketball team is gearing up for the 2025 campaign under new leadership. The Bulldogs are coming off a solid 2024 season, finishing 17-10 and advancing to the state tournament. At the Yakima SunDome, Cashmere went 1-2, defeating Montesano before falling to 1A powerhouse Lynden Christian and then Zillah to round out their season.
This season, however, will bring change. The Bulldogs graduated five seniors, four of them starters. Leaving behind some big shoes to fill. Among those losses were Ellie Bessonette and Leah Kunz, both First Team All-League standouts who anchored last year’s roster.
But while the lineup will look different, there’s a renewed sense of optimism in Cashmere, thanks to the arrival of head coach Brandon Eygabroad.
Eygabroad comes to Cashmere after seven successful years at Rainier High School, where he built the Mountaineers into a consistent contender. His teams reached the state tournament four straight times, capped by a district championship in the 2024-25 season, Rainier’s first since 2011.
Now, he’s ready for a fresh challenge.
“I’m super excited,” Eygabroad said. “It’s a great place to be. Cashmere was always one of my top schools to coach at.”
On the court, the Bulldogs will lean on junior forward Addison Talley, the team’s lone returning All-League player. Talley earned SCAC Honorable Mention honors last season and will be asked to step into a leadership role as the Bulldogs retool their lineup.
With a proven coach at the helm, Cashmere is entering a new chapter. The Bulldogs may look different, but under Brandon Eygabroad, the expectations remain the same: compete, improve, and make noise when March rolls around.
