With over 80 members competing in Cashmere’s FFA Chapter year-round, expenses quickly add up. Between sending students to state conventions, nationals, and buying animals at our local county fairs, FFA could become expensive for the school – if it wasn’t for Cashmere’s Booster Club and community.
Like in years past, the FFA Booster Club will host a Prime Rib dinner on October 4th at 6:00 PM to raise money for their Chapter members. In addition to sending 16 students to compete nationally in Indiana, FFA is raising money for the next year’s competitions, events, and to support graduating seniors who may receive scholarships. Rusty Finch, one of Cashmere’s FFA Advisors, says that he’s hoping to raise over $30,000 in one night.
Tickets can be purchased for $20 from Kim Holiday, the President of the FFA Booster Club, or from any student going to Nationals.
“They should expect an all-you-can-eat meal. That’s pretty good for 20 bucks. They’re going to get as much prime rib, potatoes, and salad as they want,” Finch says. “They should also expect to see some items that they might be interested in purchasing, such as maybe a vacation VRBO, a fishing guide trip, or metal art. There’s all kinds of variety of things for them to potentially purchase which have been donated. [The money raised] will go to support the booster club.”
Madisyn Stoffel, a junior competing at the state level for food science, got first place at state last May with her food science team and is now going on to compete at nationals. When asked what she was most excited for, she stated enthusiastically, “definitely the experience”.
Logan Potter, another one of Cashmere’s high school’s Juniors, is also competing at nationals with his food science team. When he was asked what he was the most excited about, his immediate response was “the competition.”
