The Cashmere girls’ soccer team is headed to the state quarterfinals for the third consecutive season. The Bulldogs dominated the Tenino Beavers on Wednesday night, 6-3. They were led by Junior Brynne Patrick and Sophomore Makelah Gatens, who each had two goals. Senior Erin Irelan and Junior Gwen Ledesma each added a goal apiece.
With the win, the Bulldogs now travel down to Montesano High School this Saturday to take on the No. 4 seed in the state, the Montesano Bulldogs. 1A Evergreen League Player of the Year Alexa Stanfield leads Montesano. Assisting Stanfield is the Offensive MVP of the league, Jaelyn Butterfield. These two girls will look to lead Montesano to their fourth state semifinal in five years.
Across the field, the Bulldogs are red hot. Since their loss to Naches in mid-October, the Bulldogs have now won seven in a row, including a 1-0 victory over Naches Valley in the District 5 championship matchup. Brynne Patrick is the key to victory for the Bulldogs. She is a first-team all-league forward and will look to lead them to their second consecutive state semifinal.
For both teams, this is a chance to make it back to the state semifinals and end their season with a bigger accomplishment. It’ll be a battle of Bulldogs at Montesano High School on Saturday. Kickoff is at 5 pm.
