The Cashmere Bulldogs volleyball team is headed to the Class 1A state tournament for the second consecutive year. The Bulldogs captured the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will look to make a deep run as they battle through the bracket.
The Bulldogs open Friday at 9 am. They play against the No. 12 seed, the Omak Pioneers. The Pioneers are led by Senior M Finley Sackman. Sackman was named to first-team all-CTL honors this season. She will look to lead the Pioneers to a win over the Bulldogs and a trip to the state quarterfinals.
The Bulldogs are coming off a tough loss in the District 5 championship game against the No. 1-seeded Chelan Goats. With a win, the Bulldogs will clinch their second consecutive state quarterfinal and look to make their first-ever state semifinal.
Junior Lib Mandy Barba explains how the Bulldogs will respond to playing more than one game in a day. She shared. “We can’t look past our first couple of games. We need to stay together as a team. Obviously, the end goal is the state championship, but we need to stay focused on what we have in front of us.”
The Bulldogs are a dark horse in the Class 1A state tournament, and they will look to make a run they have never made before.
First serve flies at 9 am at Yakima Valley Sundome.
