The 28th annual Wenatchee Cross Country Invitational Meet for high school cross country was cancelled due to poor air quality from smoke. The meet was scheduled for Saturday, September 20th, at Walla Walla Point Park. Nearly 40 XC teams from across the state were set to race, with some coming from up to 3 hours away. Teams include Everett, Mariner, Wapato, College Place, Connell, Eastmont, Wenatchee, and, most relevantly here, Cashmere.
To adjust for missing the meet, Cashmere has changed its schedule and will now be racing at the King’s Cross invitational on Saturday, the 27th. There, they will be facing a very different and much smaller roster of schools, and race on a very different course.
The sudden move to race on the 27th has caused many scheduling conflicts with members on the team. Most notably, members of the Concert Band in cross country may not be able to race, as they have a parade on the same day and time in Leavenworth.
However, despite some issues with scheduling, the ones on the team who will attend the meet on Saturday are sure to give it their all.
