On Friday, October 24th, the Cashmere Bulldogs took a one-hour trip to battle for the Bronze Shoe at Sargent Field against Chelan, ending in a 59-8 victory for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have held onto the Bronze Shoe for the past 10 years, ensuring the Chelan Goats that the trophy will not leave Cashmere anytime soon.
The Bulldogs started hot, scoring 2 touchdowns in the first 4 minutes of the game, scoring a 2-point conversion after their first touchdown and a PAT in the second, giving the Bulldogs a 15-0 lead, but the Bulldogs were not done yet, scoring 30 more points on the Goats, ending the half 45-0.
Senior quarterback Rylan Hatmaker was 9/10 passing for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns; his leading receiver was fellow senior Logan Spies. Spies caught 4 passes for 69 yards and a score. On the ground, McMahon led the way with 91 yards on 7 carries and 3 touchdowns.
Defensively, Sophomore Ethan Bessonette continued to shine, having a kickoff return for a touchdown and coming out with an amazing interception in the back of the end zone, not giving the Goats a chance to score.
The Bulldogs are now 7-1, playing their final regular-season game this Thursday at Cashmere High School Football Stadium, hosting the 5-3 Naches Valley Rangers.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
