At CHS, students have a way to capture the school year and turn them into loving memories. By taking a yearbook class, students learn new things like capturing the moment, and build confidence when talking to people you don’t know.
Current CHS Senior Reylin Boyd is the school’s yearbook editor, and has been for almost 4 years, and she still learns new things everyday.
Boyd said the hardest thing is to get coverage. “We want people to be in the yearbook three times. It can also be hard if they are not in clubs or doing any school activities.”
Boyd also said that the other hardest thing is, “Meeting the deadlines, as there are only a few months to get a whole section of the yearbook done depending on the subject”.
There are also multiple roles in the yearbook class, like decorating, taking pictures, getting interviews, and editing.
Boyd has the toughest role in the yearbook: editing. ”I’m in charge of editing and finalizing and going through all the pages and making sure everything is correct”.
Boyd said what she was getting out of the class was, “Being a photographer since I have always wanted to be one, and it teaches me on how to be a leader”.
After 3 years of being in the yearbook class, Boyd shared that Mrs Kurt was the teacher who had the biggest impact on her and that she would recommend that class for everybody.
Current CHS Junior Braden Eversaul is in his first year in the yearbook class, so he still has lots to learn compared to Boyd.
“What I enjoy the most about the yearbook is interviewing people because it just comes naturally to me,” Eversaul shared
He has been in the class for almost two months and enjoys the new things they do every day, and went on to say, “I enjoy being able to create something that the whole school would appreciate”.
But he also found some hard things about working on the yearbook. “I would say the hardest thing to do [for] the yearbook is taking the pictures.”
Eversaul said, “I am in charge of taking pictures and recording interviews.”
He also said, “This class is teaching me skills that will translate into real world jobs.”
Eversaul agreed with Boyd, and stated, “Mrs kurt is that teacher with the biggest impact on me, teaching me something new everyday”.
They both would recommend this class to people who want to learn more about photography and editing.
