The Cashmere Bulldogs volleyball team capped off an outstanding regular season with a 17-1 overall record and a perfect 16-0 mark in SCAC play. The Bulldogs also captured the Sundome Volleyball Festival title on September 12, powering through six wins in a single day. Their lone loss came against the undefeated (16-0) Chelan Goats, a matchup they’re eager to see again soon.
Next up for Cashmere is the District 5 Tournament, where they enter as the #2 seed. The Bulldogs will open play on November 1 at 12:00 pm at Ron Doane Gymnasium, facing the #7 seed College Place Hawks. Cashmere has already swept the Hawks twice this season.
With a win, the Bulldogs would advance to face the winner of the #6 Wapato vs. #3 Zillah matchup later that day at 6:00 pm, also at Ron Doane Gymnasium.
On the other side of the bracket, the top-seeded Chelan Goats will host their opening rounds as they aim for a spot in the District Championship, scheduled for November 8 at Eastmont High School.
If both Cashmere and Chelan handle business on their side of the bracket, fans could be treated to a highly anticipated rematch between the Bulldogs and Goats for the district crown.
When Junior Setter Cali Diaz was asked how the Bulldogs can stay in the moment and make sure they take care of business on Saturday. She shared.
“Our team is just trying to build team chemistry; we have to use these games to play our best and make sure we do all the little things right, so that we can be ready for the bigger games ahead.”
For the Bulldogs, this is a chance to continue their stride and set up a rematch that could put the state on notice for November 8th at Eastmont High School.
