Taco Bell recently came out with a variety of new drinks, ranging from slushies to refreshers, similar to the famous Starbucks drinks. Some of the drinks we tried were the Orange Vanilla Cream Soda Freeze, the Vanilla Cream Soda Freeze, the Strawberry Passion Fruit Agya Refresca, and the new Midnight Baja Blast.
The Orange Vanilla Cream Soda Freeze and the Vanilla Cream Soda Freeze were similar, but the Orange Vanilla Cream Soda was better than the Vanilla Cream Soda. These two freezes reminded Talia of going to birthday parties as she grew up; there was always cake and little ice cream cups. The two flavors of ice cream, Orange and Vanilla taste awfully similar to these freeze drinks. The Orange Vanilla Cream Soda Freeze tasted like the melted version of those little ice cream cups, but slushed, whilst the Vanilla Cream Soda tasted like a milkshake you let warm and then try to freeze again. These two new flavors were definitely nostalgic, but were too sweet to finish.
The next drink we tried was the Midnight Baja Blast. Mari hated it, but Talia enjoyed it more than the others. It’s a bright fluorescent purple and a much less sweet version of the regular Baja Blast. Talia enjoyed the fact that it was less sweet than the regular Baja Blast. To Mari, the midnight baja blast tasted very artificial. It also had a bitter/sour aftertaste.
The last drink we tried was the Passion Fruit Agya Refresca. It definitely came across as a copycat Starbucks Strawberry Acai Refresher. We definitely expected to get something similar, if not the same as the Starbucks version. This was not that. It tasted very watered down, with just a bit of flavor in cold water with ice and some dehydrated strawberries floating on top. It definitely was a disappointment, but I do recommend it for people who like the strawberry acai, just not the sweetness.
Overall, the drinks were mediocre, not good but not totally bad; probably not worth the money for one to two dollar drinks
