The CHS Jazz band and the CHS Jazz choir performed on Tuesday, the 4th, at Snowy Owl Theater at the Leavenworth Icicle Creek Center for the Arts. This was a part of ICCA’s annual Jazz Festival, which features student ensembles from around the state. Each group performed in front of a committee of qualified judges who would later assign scores.
The Cashmere groups performed a variety of jazz standards. The band played “All the Things that You Are”, “All ‘Dem Leaves”, “Abracadabra”, and “Cold Duck Time”. The choir sang “A Day in the Life of a Fool”, “When October Goes (with Autumn Leaves)”, “At Last”, and “Every Day I Have the Blues”. All of them had good receptions from the audience. Although results are pending, the two groups expect they will score well with the judges.
