The Cashmere Bulldogs girls’ soccer team is looking to feed off its momentum this Wednesday against the Tenino Beavers. The Bulldogs are coming off a district championship victory against the Naches Valley Rangers. Following the game, the Bulldogs were seeded as the No. 5-ranked team in the 1A classification, setting them up for a round of 16 matchup against the Tenino Beavers.
The Bulldogs are coming into this game with an 18-2 record. They are playing their best ball right now. Head Coach Dennis Tronson said this about their district championship, “I think that was the best game we’ve played all year. From our keeper to our forwards, we played very well.”
The Bulldogs will look to ride the momentum into their loser-out game Wednesday Night.
Across the field will be the 13-4-4 Tenino Beavers. The Beavers are the No. 12 seed in the 1A state tournament, and they are led by Junior forward Callie Mickleson. Mickleson was a first-team all-leaguer in the Evergreen 1A conference. She will look to lead her team over the 5-seeded Cashmere Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
Senior Quinn Pace was instrumental in the Bulldogs’ defensive game plan for the district championship. She was asked how the Bulldogs can sustain their momentum and keep winning games. She shared, “If we continue to support each other and play hard for each other. I love every girl I play with, and I know that is what makes us an amazing team, and that matters the most. We’re a family.”
This is more than a game for both teams. For the Bulldogs and the Beavers, this is win or go home. The winner of this game will play the winner of the No. 4 seed, Montesano, and the No. 13 seed, Cascade Christian, on Saturday, but both teams are in survive-and-advance mode right now. Kickoff is at 5 pm at Vale Elementary Stadium.
